Set up advanced tracking and feeds

When to use this page

Use this page for advanced e-commerce setup tasks that support your online sales workflow but are not part of everyday listing or checkout steps.

This page is intended as a starting point for store owners or e-commerce managers who need to manage:

  • advanced online publishing behavior
  • feed-related product preparation
  • product selection for external channels
  • large product updates that affect online merchandising
Note

Topics like Google Tag Manager (GTM) and Meta product feeds should be treated as advanced setup. Keep these tasks separate from your core day-to-day listing, pricing, and checkout workflows.

What belongs here

Use this area when you need to prepare products for broader online visibility without changing your standard daily processes.

Common advanced tasks include:

  • publishing a large set of products online
  • republishing listed items to change online display order
  • preparing products for external channel or feed workflows
  • bulk updating taxonomy, tags, price, status, or locations before an online push
  • organizing inventory for omnichannel selling across in-store and online

Before you start

Before making advanced bulk changes, make sure you:

  • know which products should be included
  • use filters to isolate the correct items
  • confirm whether you are working with one-of-a-kind items, seller items, or store-owned items
  • check that status, location, and taxonomy are accurate
  • decide whether the change is for daily operations or a one-time advanced setup task
Warning

Bulk changes can affect many products at once. Always confirm the selected item count before applying updates.

Bulk update products for advanced online setup

Use Bulk Edit when you need to prepare many products at once for online sales, feed readiness, or channel-specific workflows.

Open Bulk Edit

  1. Go to Product View.
  2. Apply filters to narrow down the products you want to update.
  3. Select the products:
    • select individual items, or
    • click Select All for the current page

Select more than 25 products

By default, Select All only selects the 25 visible products on the page.

If your filter returns more than 25 products:

  1. Click Select All.
  2. Then click the blue link near Actions that says Select all XX products that match query.
  3. Confirm the banner shows the full number of selected items.

This is especially useful when preparing a full product group for online publishing, feed cleanup, or channel review.

Confirm your selection

Before you continue, check the selected count shown in the interface as XX Items selected.

This helps avoid accidental changes to the wrong products.

Bulk edit options you may use

After selecting products, use either Edit Products or Actions depending on the type of change you need.

Edit Products options

Use Edit Products for structured catalog changes.

OptionUse it for
Edit BrandCorrect or standardize brand values

Taxonomy fields commonly updated

Under Edit Taxonomy Values, you may update fields such as:

  • Primary Segment such as men or women
  • Product Category such as clothes, shoes, or accessories
  • Product Type such as outerwear or bottoms
  • Product Style such as blazer or cargo pants

These updates can help keep online assortment structure consistent, especially when managing resale inventory, one-of-a-kind items, and mixed in-store/online merchandising.

Publish products online in bulk

Use this when you are ready to move products from internal inventory management into your online assortment.

Steps

  1. Filter the products you want to publish.
  2. Select the correct items.
  3. Open Actions.
  4. Choose Publish Online.

This action:

  • adds the availableOnline tag
  • changes product status to Listed
  • makes the items appear online

Best practice

Before publishing, confirm:

  • titles are customer-friendly
  • pricing is correct
  • taxonomy is accurate
  • item status and inventory location are correct
  • the selected items are truly ready for online visibility

For one-of-a-kind resale items, this check is especially important because each item may have unique condition, pricing, and attribution details.

Republish listed items to change online order

If listed products are already online but you want some items to surface higher, use Republish Listed Items.

When to use this

Use republishing when you want to:

  • feature newly important items
  • push selected pieces higher in your online assortment
  • refresh visibility for a curated group

How it works

Items are shown online in the order they were listed. Republish updates their timestamps, which changes their online ordering.

Steps

  1. Filter to the listed products you want to move up.
  2. Select the items.
  3. Open Actions.
  4. Choose Republish Listed Items.

Feed-related work is usually an advanced setup task. In most cases, your day-to-day team should focus on keeping product data clean rather than managing the feed itself.

Before involving a feed or external channel workflow, make sure products have:

  • correct status
  • correct price
  • consistent taxonomy
  • the right tags
  • accurate inventory location
  • complete, customer-friendly product titles

Bulk Edit is useful here because it lets you standardize product data across many listings at once.

Note

If your goal is Meta feed preparation or GTM-related tracking support, focus first on the product data inside Ribbn. Treat the feed or tracking layer as an advanced setup area, not a core daily workflow.

Inventory and location updates for omnichannel selling

If you sell both in-store and online, use Edit Inventory Locations to keep product availability aligned with how items are actually stored and sold.

This is helpful when:

  • moving inventory between locations
  • preparing stock for online fulfillment
  • separating backroom, sales floor, and online-ready items
  • cleaning up attribution for mixed operational workflows

For one-of-a-kind inventory, location accuracy matters because each product can only be sold once.

Use custom POS products only as an exception

During checkout, staff can create products on the fly if an item is not already in inventory. This can help complete a sale, but it is not the preferred path for online or feed-ready setup.

Available checkout options

On desktop POS, staff can add:

  • Add product with VAT
  • Add product with Commission
  • Add Bags

When this is appropriate

Use custom product creation during checkout only when:

  • the item is missing from inventory
  • staff need to complete the sale immediately
  • the situation is an exception

Why this matters

For better reporting, online readiness, and inventory control, it is still best to add most products to inventory in advance.

Warning

Products created ad hoc during checkout may help complete the sale, but they are not the best starting point for clean reporting, advanced online setup, or feed-related workflows.

Operational notes

Keep these points in mind when working in this area:

  • Select All only grabs the 25 products visible on the current page unless you expand the selection
  • Publish Online both tags items and changes their status automatically
  • Republish Listed Items changes online order through timestamp updates
  • Reset Sale/Clearance should be used when you need to remove clearance state
  • Map to Ribbn Channel Partner is an advanced option and may depend on prior setup
  • custom products created during checkout are best reserved for exceptions, not standard catalog management

Choose the path that matches your goal:

  • Need products live online now? Use Publish Online
  • Need featured products to appear higher? Use Republish Listed Items
  • Need cleaner product data first? Use Edit Products for taxonomy, size, brand, status, or price
  • Need to group or regroup products? Use Add Tags or Remove Tags
  • Need to support store and online selling together? Use Edit Inventory Locations
  • Need to create a missing item during checkout? Use a custom POS product as an exception, then review inventory cleanup later

This page supports advanced setup. For core daily operations, your team should usually work in these simpler paths first:

  • create or clean products before they are needed at checkout
  • keep statuses and locations up to date
  • publish only ready-to-sell items
  • use bulk tools to maintain data quality across resale and re-commerce inventory
  • reserve advanced feed or tracking work for planned setup and review moments, not routine daily listing tasks
