Connect a Stripe reader
Before you start
Use this guide to connect a Stripe reader so your team can take card payments in Ribbn at checkout.
Ribbn supports these Stripe reader types:
| Reader type | Example device | How it connects |
|---|---|---|
| Wi‑Fi reader | BBPOS WisePOS E | Register the reader in Stripe, then use it with Ribbn |
| Bluetooth reader | WisePad 3 | Syncs automatically when you log in to the Ribbn app |
Set up the reader for the physical store location where staff will take in-store payments.
Connect a Stripe Wi‑Fi reader
Follow these steps for a Stripe Wi‑Fi reader such as the BBPOS WisePOS E.
1. Open your Stripe account from Ribbn
In Ribbn:
- Go to Settings.
- Select Payments.
- Click Go to Stripe Account.
In Stripe:
- Open Terminal.
2. Create a store location
In the Stripe Terminal section:
- Click Create Location.
- Enter the location details.
- Save the location.
Use your store’s physical location, not a general business or warehouse address.
3. Register the reader
After the location is created:
- Find the location in the list.
- Click the three dots next to the location.
- Select Register Reader.
4. Finish setup on the device
- Follow the prompts in Stripe to register the reader.
- Check the reader screen for the registration code.
- Enter that code into the Registration Code field in Stripe.
- Complete the registration flow.
Once registration is complete, the Stripe Terminal is connected and ready to use with Ribbn.
Connect a Stripe Bluetooth reader
For a Stripe Bluetooth reader such as the WisePad 3:
- Open the Ribbn app.
- Log in with your staff account.
- Allow the reader to sync automatically.
This reader type does not require the same Stripe Terminal registration flow described above.
Readiness check before checkout
Before staff start taking payments, confirm:
- The correct reader type is being used.
- The reader is connected for the correct physical store location.
- Staff can log in to the Ribbn app.
- The reader has finished syncing or registration.
- The checkout station is ready for in-store card payments.
Operational notes
Skatteverket regulations allow only one device to be synced with the Stripe terminal at a time.
Keep this in mind if multiple staff members share the same payment hardware during the day.
If the reader is not connecting
Try these checks first:
- Confirm you opened Settings > Payments > Go to Stripe Account from Ribbn.
- Confirm the reader was registered under the correct Stripe Location.
- Recheck the registration code shown on the terminal during Wi‑Fi reader setup.
- Log out of and back into the Ribbn app if you are using a Bluetooth reader.
- Make sure only one device is currently synced to the Stripe terminal.
If you still cannot connect the reader, contact Ribbn support.
Next steps
After your reader is connected, your staff can move on to daily checkout tasks in Ribbn, including:
- taking in-store card payments
- completing sales for one-of-a-kind items
- keeping inventory status accurate as items move from available to sold
- supporting in-store and online selling workflows from the same store operation
If you are setting up a new POS station, complete reader setup before your team starts serving customers.
