Import Sellers/Customers (CSV)

Overview

This guide explains how to import customers (or sellers) into Ribbn in bulk using a CSV file and Ribbn’s ready-made template for faster, more accurate onboarding. You can migrate customers/sellers from an Excel file or a previous system by exporting to CSV and uploading it into Ribbn.

Although the UI location is labeled **Customers**, the same import flow can be used for onboarding **sellers** (depending on how your Ribbn workspace models users).

When to use this

  • You’re onboarding a large set of customers/sellers at once
  • You’re migrating from another tool and want to avoid manual account creation
  • You want users to be able to log in immediately after import

Prerequisites

  • Access to the Ribbn Dashboard
  • A CSV file formatted using Ribbn’s official template
  • For each record, at least one login identifier:
    • Email and/or
    • Phone number
If a record is missing both **email** and **phone number**, the user won’t have a login identifier to receive a one-time code.

Step-by-step: Import Sellers/Customers (CSV)

1) Download the CSV template

Use Ribbn’s provided template to ensure your data is formatted correctly before upload:

2) Fill out the file

Populate the template with your customer/seller information.

At minimum, the guide calls out these fields:

FieldRequiredNotes
NameRecommendedHelps with identification and support workflows
EmailConditionalUsed for login and delivery of one-time code (if provided)
Phone numberConditionalUsed for login and delivery of one-time code (if provided)
“Conditional” means **email and/or phone** should be present so the user can authenticate. Providing both is often best.

3) Upload the CSV to Ribbn

In the Ribbn Dashboard:

  1. Navigate to the Customers section
  2. Locate the CSV upload area (shown in the dashboard screenshot in the original guide)
  3. Upload your completed CSV file

4) Confirm accounts are created

After a successful import:

  • User accounts are created automatically
  • Imported customers/sellers can log in using the email or phone number you provided
  • They receive a one-time login code via SMS or email to access their accounts

Authentication behavior (what users experience)

After import, users can access their accounts using passwordless login:

  1. User enters their email or phone number
  2. Ribbn sends a one-time login code via email or SMS
  3. User enters the code to sign in

Best practices

  • Always use the official template to reduce formatting errors and speed up onboarding.
  • Ensure every row includes at least one intended login identifier (email and/or phone) so authentication and one-time code delivery works.
  • If you’re migrating from Excel, export to CSV and then paste/format into the template to match Ribbn’s expected structure.
